THE MOST FUN YOU'LL EVER HAVE WHILE BEING PHILANTHROPIC! It is our hope that you will find our mission compelling enough to get involved. Please review the mission statement below and join us on 8/20, just west of weird at the Iguana Grill for an evening of Music, Munchies & Money Grubbing. Our mission is three fold: 1. To help support and promote local, Austin/Lake Travis area musicians to a festival stage. "Our local musicians; on who's back our cities reputation was built; are often set aside during the planning process of festivals held in Austin. The desire for national attention leads promoters to look outside of state for talent. Our fledgling festival is designed to serve as example to promoters that local talent in more than capable of attracting the revenue "they" (the promoters) desire." 2. To assist in furthering the fine works of Austin's VITAL musicians charities. "Uniquely, the South Shore Blues Fest is a not for profit festival. The charities being benefitted are: The Austin Blues Society, The Health Alliance for Austin Musicians and Housing Opportunities for Musicians & Entertainers. Three groups absolutely key to the survival of musicians in Austin and Travis County. 3. To assist in the regeneration of the South Shore/Lake Travis Economy by supporting and creating opportunity for local business and artisans. "In March an astounding statistic emerged. Paraphrasing: For every month that the lake sits below half full, the local economy loses over a million dollars in revenue. This type of event is designed to attract people from a large radius around Austin to the South Shore, which will in turn encourage spending in retail and hospitality which in turn, will supply funds to support other vital Lake Travis community services."
