Join the Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History for the 10th annual BOONVILLE DAYS ~ Heritage FAIR! This year also marks the 7TH ANNUAL BUFFALO STAMPEDE HALF MARATHON AND 5K RACE at 7:30 am starting at the Brazos Center and the 4TH ANNUAL CHUCK WAGON COOK-OFF on Friday and Saturday! Come join in the race fun, and afterwards bring the entire family to celebrate the history of the Brazos Valley at Brazos County?s only living history fair! This year?s Boonville Days will be BIGGER and BETTER than ever before! This marks the 4th year of our popular CHUCK WAGON COOK-OFF? enjoy cowboy cookin? in style by the best! Come on Friday afternoon to see the wagon judging, and crews in period dress. On Saturday from 9-4, all other demonstrations will take place, along with the chuck wagon cooking competition and meals for the public. Meal tickets for the Chuck Wagon Saturday noon meal will be pre-sold at the Museum for $10 (includes bottled water, and chicken fried steak, beans, potatoes, and cobbler). Tickets are limited, so don?t delay! Activities will take place inside the Museum and on the park grounds. Pat Gavin and the Buckaroo Band along with other musicians will be providing music to keep your feet tapping along with the beat. Professor Paisley from the Texian Institute of Oxenology, will be parading back into town with Justice and Liberty, oxen showcasing Texas culture from 1830-1845. Learn about Brazos County?s pioneer history: visit with characters in period costume, enjoy cowboys, civil war re-enactors, musicians, dancers, artists, and much more. Visitors to Boonville Days will also have the opportunity to observe first-hand demonstrations of frontier skills and trades including flint-making, spinning, quilting, weaving, print-making, and blacksmithing. This is a family friendly event, so the museum will have activities to keep the young?uns entertained by learning to make pinch pots and other period crafts. Visitors can also browse through the Museum?s Discovery Room, Library, and exhibition gallery, and explore our Texas history display and our current exhibit.
